I think your last sentence is an element of where we differ. I don't believe that Hamas is amenable to external noise from Western interests. They view Israel as their principle enemy, but I suspect any non Islamic voice doesn't register to them. I comment on Israel's conduct because Israel is broadly speaking an ally, and we're able to exert greater influence over allies than enemies. I think Israel has placed its position as an ally under severe strain by the way it has conducted the war against an enemy that has nothing approaching military parity. The idea that Hamas constitutes an existential threat to Israel is an absurdity. To me the presence within the government ministry of an individual who openly advocates for genocide makes supporting the Israelis untenable. You can't inflict mass casualties on the civilian population on the scale the Israelis have and expect to be believed when you claim it's accidental when you openly coalesce with explicit advocates of genocide.
