I agree with you on Monash IVF. If I looked at something like that at a very high level I would say that IVF should be a real growth industry and a solid investment but I just have no idea on the particulars of the industry or the business model (a little bit like how aged care should logically be something that's a good place to invest with rising demand but has been a bit of a grave yard on the ASX). Clearly human error happens everywhere but in an industry like this one the consequences are a complete disaster.
Also very easy for me to sit here and point out investing mistakes using the benefit of hindsight of course.
I was more just flagging these ones up as a point of interest rather than it being something that I would consider a serious concern as a SOL investor.
I'm going to end up with around 35 percent of my portfolio in the merged co. and have no intention of selling that down.
