From a scientific point of view, my understanding is that all motion is assessed from a relative point of view.
For example, if I travelled at the same velocity (speed and direction) as the sun, it would appear stationary to me; this is not the case.
We (on Earth, which is tilted relative to the sun) are in orbit around the sun while spinning at the rate of close to once a day at the equator.
The result is, by my understanding, the Sun won't stop relative to us on Earth, which means that a stopping sun is an illusion.
