Post HSCT treatment of some interest from Melbourne published yesterday.
Media has been reporting results of an adult GVHD study here in Melbourne on radio news and newspapers by David Curtis et.al. at Alfred/Monash. n=134 Adults, matched related donors.
"We randomly assigned adults who were undergoing SCT from a matched related donor after myeloablative or reduced-intensity conditioning to receive either post-transplantation cyclophosphamide–cyclosporin (experimental prophylaxis) or cyclosporin–methotrexate (standard prophylaxis). The primary end point was GVHD-free, relapse-free survival."
"The combination of post-transplantation cyclophosphamide and a calcineurin inhibitor led to longer GVHD-free, relapse-free survival than standard prophylaxis after transplantation from a matched related donor with either reduced-intensity or myeloablative conditioning in patients with blood cancers."

Looks like they'll be looking closely at this cyclophosphamide-cyclosporin combo instead of current SOC cyclosporin-methotrexate if it's lowering incidence like this. All good. Personally, prefer an immunomodulator than an immunosuppressant. Go MSB.
