There's more to the G7 Summit than just Albo's meeting with Trump.
Albo will hold a key meeting with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung on Tuesday, local time, before a six-meeting blitz on Wednesday. This will include meetings with the leaders of France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, the US, and a trilateral with European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa.
It's interesting that President Lee Jae-myung talk is separate. It's likely based on a recent discussion that they had together only
four days ago, which Australia and South Korea vow to usher in renewed momentum on deepening collaboration across
defence, critical minerals, clean energy and broader economic supply chains. Source Specifically, likely to be on the agenda is POSCO’s bid for the Whyalla steelworks with 2.4 Billion in the table from both the SA state and Federal government and RNU’s fully approved BAM project.
IMO, POSCO has given up on their African hopefuls. But they do have some competition for certainty of supply with the at least 12 bidders for the steelworks in Whyalla close to where RNU's mining deposit is located.It's possible that our governments, could make it economical for POSCO with an all-in investment proposal for anode material, now that RNU has been granted all of the necessary regulatory approvals for the BAM project that was granted
four days ago. Maybe just a coincident.
It's all about certainty and having a secure line of supply.
