hi @eyeinthesky, yes I thought that as well for a while but their problem is that when the shorters push the price down there is still little free stock for them to buy and the they have to still chase the price back up again to get any decent volume. So they may be trying to use the shorters to push the price back down as you suggest but I don't think it is working. You will see this as the price retraces and the bounds back up again in the afternoon for them to get volume but there isn't any. My advice to Virtu is to buy in the 90s or more then they may get stock volume and also create a mini short squeeze which will feed their hunger. This will have to happen soon if they are greedy and keen enough. They won't care squeezing the shorters if it is the only way they can get the volume they want. The info from @anatol indicates to me that there has been a lot of effort but the return for them is still low. If they have a deadline their only way out is to increase the buy price and squeeze the shorters to sell because few on here will sell. I am hoping increasing lithium sentiment and the realisation that China is indeed running out of lithium will put even more pressure on Virtu and their client to up the price. Time will tell. The increase in downramping noise while the price is slowly increasing may also be a sign of a growing concern that the shorters can't keep this down and the reason for this may be Virtu's constant buying. I would be interested in any other views but the way I see it is that this big buyer/slow accumulator is very real and squeezing the price north and the shorters as well. How sad! Also this has been happening for at least a month.
