I posted a while ago about how much this administration were going beyond the bounds of what normal governments do. Science is no longer off limits. Everything is seen through political lenses. I posited that not all the goings on were positive for Mesoblast, as many posters seemed to suggest.
I specifically pointed out that this administration were seeking a certain absolute purity from the people in leadership at the FDA, CDC, HHS etc. Many here blasted me for even having that opinion. In fact @Lopez suggested that as long as Nicole was still there we were good. Well, we know what happened there. Some suggested that @otherperspective having a different perspective was them schooling me. @reginaldp seemed to suggest that the actions of this administration are just normal behavior.
I appreciate that each of those people may not be getting as full a picture as they need to. My position in the US gives me a fuller picture of what's happening. I maintain that we MAY end up with a situation where the people in key positions are not competent enough to execute on the tasks they are trusted with but instead are willing to bend to the administration's wishes at all costs. If Trump or RFK wants MSCs to be a therapy approved in the USA, they simply will tell anyone in the respective roles to fast track approvals, regardless of the science. If they don't want it to happen, then it won't be approved, no matter the strength of the science. That is not a good position to be in as an investor.
It goes without saying that when people are removed without a clear explanation it becomes nearly impossible to know the real criteria for continued employment. In the past it was competence and expertise in a certain field, not necessarily alignment with a new administration. We still don't know exactly Marks was removed, or why Nicole Verdun and her assistant were escorted out. We won't know who replaces them and their viewpoint on the science of MSCs.
As I have said before multiple times, all this bears watching. Sadly, we have moved from simply KNOWING our MSCs were good and waiting for approvals based on this knowledge, to now wondering if our products are aligned with the wishes of this administration.
Having held this company for years, I have absolutely no plans to sell anytime soon. I continue to believe that we will get multiple approvals in the years ahead. However, the variance in the time to get those approvals has clearly increased. They could come sooner, or come much later, but I believe they will come.
That's my view from the USA, and my personal view. So @exec925 please don't ask me to prove my opinion.
