A lecturer in communications many moons ago was praising SMH for it's news content as being reliable - and in the main that was true - it was the best newspaper at the time locally. The lecturer however also indicated, that in general, one should believe less then half news reports as being factual and correct.
Many moon phases passed since and now one is confronted with deep fake (just how deep, who knows, could be coming from down an unused mine shaft ), AI with bots and from people well versed in the merits of propaganda driven by bosses with agendas even as less and less people buy hard copies of newspapers - there's always that smart phone with apps.
Thank you internet and news crews interested in sensationalisms. Looking at all the different types of news channels - the mission is to make money -somehow with stiff competition - often even headlines have glaring spelling mistakes - so as to content?
So how can anyone provide reliable factually accurate information - particularly when such may be censored as it goes against policies?
The current conflicts are a fine example of combinations of the above. Fairly certain too that in some situations even old footage from former conflicts are used in reporting - in general, who would know - the gullible?
The credibility of politicians is also questionable, as lies are rife. Read my lips, I cannot lie (no, I cannot lie just once but can do so multiple times - and get away with it). Broken promises yet voters keep voting for them and soon have regrets. Israel voted for their current leadership and through current leadership the Palestinian conflict ensued but more, as now with Iran:
The Israeli government has never hidden its desire to restart the war. On Tuesday morning, a series of airstrikes throughout Gaza and bullish rhetoric from both Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers....
But Most Israelis Don't Want to Fight Anymore.
One would think the majority of Iranians do not wish to fight a war either.
Rightly or wrongly, fake news or not, war continues and appears to have escalated. Populations in general do not want wars but the majority it seems does not decide.
But all the above could just be bot generated deep fake. Reader beware. AIMO
