Don't much care about whether Iran is democratic or otherwise. The country belongs to Iranians and the laws of their land has nothing to do with Israel or the US or anyone else - except the locals. No one has the right to interfere into other sovereign nations' affairs just because they think their system is the only one everyone should have. That kind of thinking is precisely the reason for so many conflicts.
How many billions are spent on warfare versus how much money is sent to aid agencies to counter the effects of war? Recently noticed a tv chef, Adam Liaw, speaking on behalf of UNICEF re unfolding tragedy in Gaza and issues with hunger and aid not getting through and such aid clearly way below needs. Far too much money is spent on attempting to impose 'democracy' in places by those who should mind their business and be best for them to address their own internal issues. But alas, some choose to deflect from fixing their own problems by creating massive problems elsewhere.
One by one the US has attacked nations and created massive problems outside their own borders for in the main - self interests - then they cry when terrorism surfaces as a result.
Israel has been oppressing Palestinians and when there is opposition to their ways, Israel cries foul play by factions fighting back. It is however a web of complex deep seated issues with fault on both sides but the US has absolutely no right to interfere there or indeed in Iran. If the US is the example of what democracy is then that democracy should leave Iran to decide for itself it's self determinate destiny - Iran has that right.

The USA basically created the monster of Iran in the first place by stimulating the overthrow of the democracy and installing the Shah which was a disaster
then he got turfed to the USA for the next disaster
