Hi Saane,
Most of the small retailed share holders like us are disappointed with SM results.
Unfortunately only about 62.5% of eligible share holders bother to cast their votes.
The numbers of votes to elect messrs Greentree, Izzard and Blake are about 157,000,000 and against are about 104,000,000.
Somehow I think the big boys and Dato have made some arrangement to appoint these
3 guys. With Quantum's about 85 m, Citicorp's 60 m and Hsbc's 43 m , they have enough votes to get them in.
It's just my speculation : I think that some big boy has negotiated with Dato that he must leave the Board and appoint their 3 nominees and they could help Dato financially to overcome present cashflow problem. Afterall, Quantum's GPA with BEZ is worth more than US$390M profit at today's gold price. (274,939.61Ozs@US$1864.35/Oz)
It is now in everybody's interest to speed up the mining operation.
Let's hope that someone from the big boy group or Dato can pay a visit to the Ministry to get the Renewal Letter out. All technical problems have been solved . Now we need some good relationship and political activities to start the ball rolling !
