They have, and at much much higher prices than is current. Sinosteel was rebuffed by the FIRB when they wanted to takeover Murchison. And the Koreans hold about a 10% stake, bought just last year.

To answer your question, they would love to buy Murchison at these prices - they're just not allowed.
