Not everyone recognises the handful of commodities that affords our lifestyle ... and it is only in this modern era since Hancock petitioned the Gov't to open up export trade that we have had this privelige. Gold hasn't always been in export spotlight, only since it's hit above the $700 mark.
We 'had' a car industry in Australia that is all but disappeared - now you can see where the implications have shifted. Simply stated, if it was not for the asian demand for coal and iron, we'd be in compounding debt situation with no end to it.
No guilt mongo, merely indicating the trends in something rarely discussed. More a healthy appreciation and waving the commodity banner. Some might find it interesting, you obviously don't. That's OK.
When policies are discussed concerning taxes or MRRT, people might have a better picture of the impacts in mind. You would know as well as any that there is an unparalleled liberty in being debt free.
Hoping it stays that way is all.
