Gosh silly me I forgot that women covering themselves with scarves is a choice and that the scarves don't actually mean anything! How could I travel the world and not have noticed all those women getting up in the mornings and saying to themselves, "Gee, will I wear my burqa today or not? Or maybe just a simple scarf? Or maybe I'll just skip it today, it's not like I'll get stoned, fined or banned from my family or anything!" Just as a book cover is there to tell what the book is about, the scarves are there to tell you something too - and they tell a history of misogyny, fear and abuse.
