Ha, just reading this thread for the first time. Quite amusing.

Just a question for skol- can you point to some evidence or past example of where the price of gold stocks has been the best indicator of the future price of gold? Doesn't make any sense. Why would they be a better indicator than the futures price?

Gold stocks are lagging at the moment because the market only seems interested in hot commodities like potash and that's where the money is moving at this moment, but it has nothing to do with where gold is headed. A bit of a spike to 1500 and the gold stocks will catch up very quickly. Copper stocks are the same.

I am not making any predictions on the price of gold here even though I am personally bullish. Just trying to keep the debate fair.
