It just shows again that without consent of the landholders no mining company can get access to the land.
The deal that Axiom made with the landholders would now set a precedent for future mining leases in the Solomons imho, as other landholders would look for simillar deals.
I also think that Axiom, if they keep playing their cards right, could pick up more mineral leases in the Solomons because of their willingness to work with the landholders.
Looking at the 2.5% stake the landholders in PNG got from the Ramu project, the deal with Axiom has been a real win for the Landholders of Santa Isabel.
I have to congratulate the Axiom management with their negotiation skills and the ability to broker a deal around the needs and aspirations of the Traditional landholders.
