yes rob agreed a VF motor would give more options, we use to do fit VF motors to have variable speed milk pumps on dairy farms to keep milk level constant in the milk receiver can but we still used a belt drive for the overall speed reduction.
with the conveyer they can also fit a weight senser spring on the conveyer which would work well with a VF motor to regulate the flow even more accurately, I would think.
I was just looking at the cheapest quickest fix using a constant speed motor and changing pulley sizes for changing belt speed as I am/was a millwright not an electrician.
