Is this where the confusion about the NCu initially arose?

There stills seems some confusion as to the status of Native Copper (NCu) in the current CDU JORC, apart from the text of page 9/16 which clearly indicates that nuggets of a size >2mm have been removed I will like to offer more supporting evidence."

End of quote from pjemmett, whose post is much longer.

I am pretty sure that pj has misread the JORC here. What the JORC says is:

"All samples are dried. Drill core is placed through Jaw crusher and crushed to approx 8mm.RC chips and core is then split if necessary to a sample of less than approximately 3.5kg.

Native copper samples were prepared by 2 methods. Grain size of native copper determined which method was used.

Samples where the Native Copper grain size is less than 2mm were disc ground to approximately 180micron. 500g is then cut from the sample and lightly pulverised for 30 seconds to approximately 100micron.

Samples where Native Copper grain size is greater than 2mm were put through a rolls crusher to approximately 3mm. Samples were sieved at 2mm with copper greater than 2mm hand picked out of sample. Material less than 2mm and residue above 2mm was disc ground to approximately 180 micron. 500g is then cut from the sample and lightly pulverised for 30 seconds to approximately 100micron.

All other sampled material not containing Native Copper is pulverised to a nominal 90% passing 75micron."

Nowhere does it say that the NCu over 2mm was excluded from the assay. It specifies that the residue from the sieving above 2mm was disc ground to 180micron.

Look at it like this. Everything was crushed, initially to 8mm. Samples with NCU greater than 2mm were put through a rolls crusher. If you were ever going to exclude NCu, you would do it at this stage. You wouldn't grind it smaller, and then pick out lots of tiny nuggets rather than one big one. After crushing it finer, IF you then picked out the NCu, the whole assay would be meaningless.

Taking pj's advice and reading the 29/1/7 report again, those figures that he/she quotes do indeed have the NCu removed, but they were not used for the JORC. It was only for the company's purpose that they were identified separately. Page 2 of that report specifies that "In future, native copper samples from all diamond holes containing native copper will be assayed by analysing the whole sample and not screening out the +3mm fraction size".

So, not only does the JORC give any indication that the NCu was excluded, the company specified that it would be included.
