JW5, this is not the political forum and I don't intend to make it such, and I carry no torch for the ALP, but even Julia Gillard would realize this is a poison pill. This tax has Green stamped all over it. She would have little option but to smile and speak enthusiastically about it.
Regardless of the political reasons for it, it is certainly doing a number on the market.
