your view on the family is apparently very capitalist.

Maybe read the Communist Manifesto to get its view, which is simialr.
In brief the socialist sees the family as a construct of the capitalist system to enrich the elites by passing on the costs that should be bourne by the State to the family unit. In their view it oppresses the individuals for the benefit of the ruling class.
Naturally I feel this is rubbish, as I, like you think it is my responsibility to educate, feed and care for members of my family for no financial reward (the other rewards are greater). I believe I can do a better job than any State at this task.
I believe further that most families are loyal to each other. For socialist control one's loyalty must first to be the State, therefore the family as we know it must be abolished for socialist utopia.
The love, compassion, caring, sharing of material and intellectual value in a family (and extended family groups including friends) in my view is apolitical and more reflective that we are a social animal, but by no means socialist.
