We got the telephone call on Monday night. I'm thinking they're making sure all the ma and pa kettles are up to speed with the offer, that they received the 3rd bidders supplement and that they have only until next Wednesday to get their form to RIO to take advantage of the sweetened offer. We sent the form in yesterday.
From this mornings announcement RIO have 33% and rising although they have a fair way to go to get 50.1% by 23 March. Perhaps there will be a rush next week as the deadline for the increased offer looms.
As far as we are concerned, there will be no increase in offer price unless and until an alternate bid come along which is highly improbable at this stage.
It's been great being part of this post and I will miss you all and being part of this great company.
But ... the fat lady has yet to come out from the wings.
