"I think I'd get angry being locked up for 2 years too."

    Hang on a minute...

The boat arrivals know they have to go into detention, so why come here if they don't want the wait? It is quite possible that they destroy their own papers and ID. It is also quite possible that there could be known criminals that come here through the back door posing as refugees without papers.

And what about the many thousands of legitimate refugees with papers waiting in camps in other countries for many years for their turn to come here? I have read that they now have to wait much, much longer due to the boat arrivals. I am not against genuine refugees and feel sorry for those that are being kept out. So please, no racist comments.

Locked up or not, to burn the facilities provided is no way to help their cause. This is not the way someone would behave that has had to flee for their lives. Those that have genuinely fled for their lives are often quite compliant and grateful for any help offered.

Surely, anyone with a criminal conviction since arriving in Australia should be denied Australian citizenship.

And those that willfully destroy Australian property should be immediately deported, IMO. It would most likely stop most of this criminal activity.

A bit like the tough love of zero tolerance with P platers.
