"Good luck with that. I have never tried E-Trade before. It was of a few that I was originally recommended, but once I tried the NAB one, I just stuck with it"

Thanks Buddy. I started with Commsec and still run a small portfolio there for one of my kids. It's also handy to monitor everything even while I trade on eTrade. I guess it's because I'm more familiar with it. But I went to ANZ/Etrade because they are much better when it comes to Margin Lending e.g. they will lend 75% on Santos(80% in a diversified portfolio of at least 4 stocks) just as they do for the likes of BHP, WPL and NCM. That helps indirectly when considering more speculatory stocks e.g. ESG

"The facility that I was most interested in, was the ones that, without doing any research whatsover, your profit and losses on each individual share you held, were update at least daily. So if you wanted to buy or sell any shares, all the information was there staring at you in the face, and not having to do any research"

That would be great! eTrade does have a Portfolio view which allows you to look at each stock performance on an average cost view. However if you sell down a portion though you need to recalculate the average and edit each lot you have of that stock. Far too messy!
