We have a responsibility to take in a fair share of refugees.We do not have to take in the perpetrators of mindless violence against their hosts. Having said that, we should differentiate between the ethnic groups because in conversation with a person who works on Christmas Island I am informed that as a general principle the Afghans and Sri Lankans are extremely grateful and generally well behaved while those from the cradle of civilisation (Iran and Iraq) are uncooperative, unhelpful, arrogant and now violent. We do not need to create further problems for ourselves by accepting troublemakers.
