Wishy washy IMO and not much faith in the Japanese at that. There was plenty of scare media but did people really think Japanese would withold or distort information on this scale the way some went on? Also there was enough scientific commentary on the relatively low doses, the huge differences to Chernobyl. And in any case, 40 yr old reactor incurred 9.0 quake and resulting tsumani then crisis because:

1. back-up power was a couple of metres lower than the tsunami or

2. not a G3 system that doesn't need back-up power, take your pick.

Some of your other concerns are fairly easily dispensed, e.g. 5) how this will impact on the acceptance of nuclear energy by the rest of the world; - how did you conceive such a backlash given 1 & 2 above? How safe is coal, another tragedy this week.
6) whether this will result in a stricter approval process for nuclear reactors and cause a delay in approvals - ok let's say yes, but in the midst of this what did Obama announce? Where is Wyoming? How far from production is PEN?

Sorry binbin, over analysing in the face of emotive fear sold by some media. Lesson is have a little more faith in the Japanese and DYOR carefully IMO.
