Shares of Molycorp Inc. (MCP) are up 17.66%, along with those of Avalon Rare Metals Inc (AVL) up 13.2% and Rare Element Resources Ltd (REE) up 24.08%. Based on a report by Reuters, MCP shares rose along with those of other US-traded companies (i.e., AVL and REE) "because Molycorp's Chief Executive Mark Smith told conference-goers in Toronto that prices are significantly higher than we anticipated and that Japan's quake didn't affect sales in the country," and that "the company is on track to hit first-quarter sales targets on the back of higher prices."

This, while Lynas is not doing much better than "treading water" despite its superior fundamentals and first-producer advantage.

This is just another example of what significant impact exposure to the North American news media has on stocks that are traded on US stock markets, and another argument in support of my previous suggestion that Lynas should take the necessary steps to get itself listed on the New York Stock Exchange or American Exchange -- something that NC has reportedly rejected. I would suggest that he be again asked to redirect his efforts away from his FRG dealings and concentrate on leveling the playing field for Lynas by getting it listed on a major US stock market instead.
