have you ever worked with an institution? on a spot desk? with quants? with prop traders? with algo developers?
Whe someone comes on this forum and confidently states mechanical systems dont work they had better have some objectiveness and proper evidence to support that. Simply because you might have not found what you were looking for in terms of mechanical systems does not mean it does not exist.
I will not go further into the hometrader side of things - I am sure they are good at what they do but they are not quants.
Instos hire traders and use trading systems for different jobs ... and they do spend millions on systems ... and some companies are developing systems to replace the traders.
Look in the end grahod I have no problem with what ever makes trading work for you or anyone else. If the point of your earlier post was to hammer home that developing FX algo systems is difficult and risky then yep I'll agree .. but if you meant that post to be taken literally as nothing will work then you are incorrect.
