    Drill Stem Tests meaure flow rates, not reservoir sizes.

    If you take the height of the column of oil, multiply by the area, multiply by the porosity, and add fudge factors for the shape of the formation, then you can get an estimate of the recoverable oil.

    You can have a field full of oil that wont flow (ie CVN's Whichian Buri), and is therefore worth nothing.

    You can also have very small but very enthusiastic fields (cant think of any right now).
