Bulljack, The onus is on non-Indigenous Australia to bridge the gap. At the very least that means reconciliation (saying sorry). It doesn't mean 'you just can't blame everything and everyone for your situation, when you are not doing anything to better yourself.' As victims of genocidal abuse, special circumstances prevail. How do these victims of genocide feel? The Jewish community still carries great pain from events that occurred 70 years ago. Australian soldiers mistreated by the japanese in WW2 (while obviously not genocide) still struggle with the trauma. We understand their pain, why can't you extend this to our first Australians (no need to respond Acehigh)? I think under the circumstances they have shown us more compassion than we have bestowed upon them.
