for a forum full of investors you all seem very concerned about anyone esle makeing money. seems a bit ricvhj - pardon the pun.
CO2 and other GHG have a radiative forcing effect and traps heat.
I am no expert but if we stopped polluting today it would take 100 years (roughly) for the CO2 to be broken down. The IPCC has put out a lot of work o this and it relates to the Global Warming Potential of the emissions, each has a radiative forcing effect and each has a residence time.
Each has a global warming potential. Flannery was simply wrong to think it will take 1000 years for the temperature to drop - it will take about 100 years for he released gasses to have no further influence on the climate.
Can all the magnificent scientists on this forum use the collective intelligence ( or you can just quote Andrew Bolt or Plimer) on what the temperature will be in 100, 500 and 1000 years if we continue at our current emissions trajectory?
Pollutants are undesirable elements in system that create change or destabilisation of the system.
This is where a lot of so called scientists go astray - we are talking about a system and messing around with any part of the system will create change throughout the system, mind you it is a very complex system. Furthermore we have already messed with it so much that we are dreaming if we think we can even consider going back to the old ways, it simply cannot. But those that do not want to get a management system in place for our alterations to the system do not understand the consequences of inaction and or mismanagement.
