I have to say that another extension on the EIS is a worry. The consultants do all the work, not CDU. CDU has to scope out the consultants work to capture all the issues involved in CDU's preferred operational arrangements, and that the scopes are complete and nothing falls through cracks.

Its a mine. Its not even the first mine in Australia. Its not as if its a smelter located next to the Great Barrier Marine Park for God's sake.

Those that have read my posts over time will recall my view that CDU are ok at things they can stub their toes on, but subtle paper work (you know..the stuff "suits" actually do well and CDU think are just a bunch of dead ....) is a complete blind side.

There is no way this work needs WM, or Cameron, or Arthur Hunt to read it all and approve.

Therefore, either the configuration and certain elements of the mine are still unresolved and those paragraphs are absent the submission, or the whole planning and management of the task has been a dog's breakfast.

Its added another month of delay. The EPA recommendations will be at least 6 weeks. The Environmental Construction Plan (Draft) should be submitted with the EIS and the Environmental Management Plan should be generic, with a few mods to cater for the specific differences between CDU and other, NCu for example.

Those bitching about bureaucrats and Nana Bligh need to pull their heads in a bit, this is CDU machine gunning both feet off. There is absolutely nothing super special about CDU's copper mine that has warranted these delays other than the lack of CDU's knowledge to deal with something subtle and having to do learning on the job. Pig headedness and idiosyncratic behaviour isn't a panacea for every issue. Don't expect any ML until August.

The financing and purchasing won't be delayed, but its another at least 5 months before the market gets to see those nuggets and until it does its all horse hockey.

Having money tied up in CDU is REALLY starting to get my goat as I have plenty of other options waiting to break out. Five months in this market is a life time.
