    Not sure what you mean about us all going to burn. Firstly, I don't speak Mandarin or any Indian dialects, so I'm afraid I'd be about as useful to them as you would. Secondly, you'd probably whinge about people like me getting their university education at taxpayer expende and then buggering off overseas. I serve my country as a scientist.

    The fundamental answer to your simple questions is that the environment is dynamic and that it goes through cycles. I'm sure this is what you are eluding to - right? Maybe you've read about Milankovitch cycles, if not:

    All the examples you give are of "localised" climate change, what we are seeing now is quite different because it is a GLOBAL phenomenon.
