Protesting mining activity by disgruntled locals on Sumbawa is not uncommon. Batu Hijau and Elang in East Sumbawa are targets and have created a precedence or blueprint for local resistence. On nearby Flores island a company wanted to prospect within a protected forest and the locals kicked up a big stink and kicked the company out. The Catholic church got involved and declared that mining should be banned on the whole of the island! I get the impression that this is the kind of response mining companies can face in this part of Indonesia.

It's been weeks or months since the protest yet still no mention from management that they are re-starting the suspended physical exploration activities.
The majority of locals probably are in favour of mining. It's the vocal and violent minority ( the one's who live a stone's throw from where arc have been trenching) that will determine whether the Soro project progresses to the drilling or mining stage.
