I'm watching bloomberg and they have this countdown timer till 'government shutdown' lol, in reference to the time they have left for congress to raise the pointless debt ceiling before the US 'runs out of money' and I guess that's the end of the US lol ;).
It's only 3 hours away, oh geeze stock up on baked beans quick!

The demise of the US will only occur if they can be convinced that they are the same as europe and need to cut spending and enforce austerity right now.
If the US starts cutting spending aggressively soon, expect the next recession, and quickly, but hopefully the powers at be have more sense.

Oh and yes re Zimbabwe hyperinflation; hyperinflation is more then just a monetary event, it is the total capitulation and faith in the currency. Zimbabwe experienced it due to a completely corrupt war torn nation run by fiscally irresponsible warlords.
High inlation in the US? Of course possible at some stage.
Hyperinflation? I don't think so.. Just IMO, others may see differently.

So as long as hyperinflation is the only possible psuedo form of insolvency, just remember the point that as long as US productivity and output is enabled to grow in line with the increasing amount of money being introduced into the system (and why can't it? Isn't that the definition of economic growth), then the US won't experience hyperinflation.

There will always be demand for what the US can produce and their services, so there will always be demand for USD, inflation is a given but as I say hyperinflation is more then just 'lots' of inflation..

    Thanks for listening
