I don't understand how the DSTO can claim that selectable velocity/KE is their idea? they may have helped perfect it maybe but the IP belongs to metalstorm, this is stacked propellant technology i.e behind each stacked grenade there are a number of propellant loads and depending on the distance to target or the required KE you fire a chosen number of propellants to deliver that outcome,the distance to target is calculated by a targeting system that sends the information to a computer chip that turns that info using an algorythm to tell the Fire control system how many propellant loads to fire, I don't believe this requirement is just for non lethal , it applies just as much to lethal as well.

As for the part about Airsoft being involved , they want to have this selectable range selectable KE ability with their M203 I believe, which means that in my opinion they need stacked propellant technology in the rounds they fire from their M203's and a capability of electronic firing in their weapons, because it will need to be able to tell the round how many propellant loads to fire depending on the range, this wont give Airsoft the ability to fire multiple stacked rounds like the 3GL, it will just give them the ability to be able to select velocity/range and KE in their single shot M203's, that is all they will get imho, and every round using stacked propellant firing will see royalties go to metalstorm, whether that round was fired from a 3GL, firestorm or an M203, I could be wrong in my assumptions here, so do your own research please.
