Extrapolated a bit too far.
I searched the whole document and found the phrase "preferred partner" appeared only once.
"Gunns Ltd has made it clear to the signatories that: ... they understand, as does the preferred JV partner that some dissension is inevitable in a democracy ..."
So there was no direct reference to the "'preferred' partner" at all in the report, only an indirect one by the "Gunns Ltd".
