I tend to agree ACB, in that Rudd appears to have trouble containing himself when the opportunity arises to pay out a little dividend on those who removed him in the fashion that they did.
Rudd and Turnbull are each waiting for the opportunity to take the reins. Anyone who can't see that is certifiably vision impaired.
No one can ever know how the leader situation in each party will unfold, because each depends on the other party leader to some extent.
While Rudd may not quite have the luxury of huge support within his party, I'm not convinced it's 'toxic' as you suggest. That, I believe, may be exaggerating the sentiment. Hard to know exactly, but I do agree that there is now a certain element who would feel very uncomfortable about a possible return by Rudd. That is common sense, and common knowledge I guess.
Having said that, if the polls continue to show that Labor has a much better chance under Rudd, and almost no chance under Gillard, as the election nears, they will reinstall Rudd quicker than you can say Goodbye Tony.....lol.
As much as I find it difficult to imagine in some ways, my guess is that Rudd will be leader again before the next election, and for various reasons which I can't be bothered going into, Turnbull will replace Abbott who will fall behind significantly in the polls once Rudd returns.
Very hard to know. But I will be extremely surprised if the two current leaders are both there for the next election, which basically means, that I don't believe Gillard will be there.
If Gillard was to be still there, then Abbott would also be there. But if Gillard goes, which I think she will, Abbott will probably go with her.
Just how I see it. All a bit irrelevant really because it's 2 and a half years way, so I'll just enjoy the Tonyfree Government that we have now.
