I am one of only two likely people alive on this planet who have seen a big chunk of rock drift past just above our atmosphere. Not a winking distant light, not a satellite or flaming meteor but an obvious large chunk of greyish brownish rock suspended as if weightless in space above me.
Makes you realize how fragile life is in this drifting solar system and how preoccupied humanity is with itself.
