The point is: it should be to one's ability or capability, irrespective of gender.
I usually find it quite disagreeable to engage in discussion on topics which are based on one's characteristics, such as gender, racial background, religious background. We have seen lately on hotcopper quite a few such threads, it tells me there are quite a lot of people out there who hold sectoral views, whereas I am more inclined towards a universal approach, transcending racial and religious lines. Politics is another matter, of course :-)
I am not a supporter of the feminist movement nor do I hold the views that males are superior.
