    i don't doubt that they have extremely detailed discussions with Malaysian government and that LYC has all approvals that they could reasonably hold given the stage of development of the project.

    However - if you are not close to the ground, it is hard to know whether a protest group is powerful or irrelevant.

    To give an example - I am a shareholder in HIG, which is a minority interest holder in the Ramu mine in PNG that thought it has all necessary approvals. . . . .but that was before the local landholders took the matter to court, alleging that the environmental analysis underpinning the previous approval was dodgey.

    Now, the matter is in court with a judgment set to come down late May.

    I don't think that simplistic analogies are good enough.
