As part of the new contracts, we have signed a ?carbon reduction agreement? with our partners Loy Yang Power.

This is critically important to me as General Manager for Climate Strategy and to Alcoa as a whole. It helps guide Loy Yang Power and Alcoa on a shared path to a low carbon future, regardless of any formal government framework

Awareness is easy FUNDING another 20 million ton for local use is far more complex.

IF carbon tax is passed ALCOA / LYP /GOV/ Victoria Coldry another CSA coal supply agreement will emerge for local use.
Great move by management to have CSA option available.

Coldry is the cheapest option that can secure 5000 jobs influenced by the aluminium industry.
ALCOA has 2 Billion dollars allocated to secure operations and reduce carbon emissions\ with its parent company.

Power stations LYP A and B HAVE OVER 1 BILLION DOLLARS IN COMBINED DEBT, 500 million dollars in re financing recently approved to LYP A on condition that it will supply ALCOA baseload power for the next 36 years.
Ian Nethercote would be concerned as NO COMPENSATION will be provided to lignite power operators, so how will they cover their costs unless they pass them on?
