farmboy, so true. The quarterlights gave an excellent, quiet airflow through the car at speed. Modern cars are like greenhouses.
Still, at least with electric windows you can wind down the rear windows whilst driving, for a good blast of air - but it is noisy.
Mind you, we could afford the CO2 for car aircons if the govt would remove the monopolies surrounding car imports. Then we could have all the ultra-economical cars from Europe at European prices.
Our govt. really couldn't give a dingo's kidney for CO2 emissions. We aren't allowed to have economical cars or efficient houses or school buildings. They are just intent on destroying what little manufacturing we have and driving overseas new investments in mines.
