I can't believe the hatred expressed in some of the posts on this and other threads.

Surely this great nation can take in refugees, weed out those that are not acceptable including those that cause malicious damage to property and put peoples live in danger, and then integrate the others into our lives.

But talk about machine gunning boats and in another post "then burn them" is just frankly too much.

Now before anyone accuses me of being another lefty let me set the record straight.

The Rudd and now Gillard governments are the worst I have seen in my 53 years on this earth and I would like to see nothing better than them to be booted out sooner rather than later. However just because I vote conservative it doesn't mean I don't have a humane attitude to life.

In 77 -78 I was newly married, in the Air Force based in Wagga. I used to get livid when I saw Vietnamese pushing multiple shopping trollies around the supermarket filled to the brim. How dare they be able to do this while my wife and I struggled.

Fortunately, someone with more life experience sat me down and explained a few things to me which has helped form my opinion on refugees from where ever they may come.

In social settings if this subject comes up I state my position politely and then if people want to rant and rave and make ridiculous statements I just move on.

So I hope that those that want to machine gun boats etc never have to put out their hand for help one day because if everyone had the same attitude as you there will be no-one to help you.

Easter, a time to reflect. Look inwards and find the real person inside.

    Regards

    Gary.
