I know kingpin, it's very hard to let this go not just because of sentimental reasons but the possibility of owning another beach front house like this will be buckleys.
Unfortunately, our mortgae is very stretched and as an investment decision (putting emotions aside) this is the most logical place for us to offload.
We pay over $20K a year in land tax alone, not to mention the hassles of holiday rentals and other expenses. It does quite well for rental return but the time and effort to makes ends meet can take it's toll.
Even though it's only around a 45 minute drive from Sydney's Northern beaches, I rarely have much time to spend there anymore.
It's a shame really, plenty of good memories over the years, cricket on the beach, back yard BBQ's, fishing off the rocks, surfing the point at Umina and I'm yet to find a better place to eat decent fish and chips.
I guess that's how things work in life, nothing lasts forever and I'm sure the new owners will spruce it up and have one of the best beach front homes along the Esplanade.
AgAu, very possible I've crossed path's with your grandfather, I'm sure he enjoys hanging out at Ettalong for a beer and Pokies.
