"The calorific Value is well above minimum acceptable levels by (Asian) Importers, and now, with the Rapidly Diminishing Newcastle Thermal Coal Resources, the Queensland Thermal coal (superior to Indonesia's) is becoming a much sought after .....Good quality Thermal Coal, to substitute it..... As for its price per tonne, EER's Coal being of same quality as BND's, Linc's, Alpha's etc, is expected to fetch same price when sold....That is (present levels-From memory) around 130-150 $ Per Tonne, Well ABOVE the Figure you mentioned......"
Current 5000Kcal/kg coal priced at circa $90(A$85/t)--- at 4 month high!
"major supplier having sold 12 shipments into China at around $92 a tonne for 5,000 kcal/kg NAR coal." As at 22, April.
Some other posters pointed out A$40/t, this is not correct atm, but it's the correct price 1-2 years ago: $25--35/t.
"Indonesian sub-bituminous coal with a heating value of 5,300-5,500 kcal/kg (ADB) was offered at around $32 a tonne, FOB vessel for prompt shipment." Sep, 2009.
EER clearly announced:
"The coal seams at blackall are low rank, low energy coals"
This obviously means its quality actually much lower than 5000Kcal/kg.
It's RD raw 1.5 g/cc is only, ash 12.5% and very high moisture at 14 %, CV is at 20.5MJ /Kg. I reckon the correct price range for Blackll coal "A$ 50--65/t"
Another big problem with EER is the coal thickness: most of the JORC coal are in 1.07m--1.7m thickness.
"1m thickness" will significantly increase the operation cost
