mate, you are mis using "in the money". It is a reference to the option strike price...verse the current underlying share price...if the underlying share price is above the strike price of 17.8c, its is considered "in the money".
your point about why it doesnt make sense to buy the option at its current premium, given the strike price and premium add up to the underlying share price is a fair one....but only one view....
