It's depressing how much pseudoscience and conspiratorial thinking has infected our culture - and this board.

"Firstly, it is not uncommon for Governments to only offer funding to those scientists whom they can rely on to provide results towards favoring their own agenda."

It's preposterous to think that "the government" has an agenda to supress a legitimate cure for cancer for a number of reasons, not least of which is that politicians are generally old and have a good chance of dying of cancer themselves. Do you really think that not a single person involved in such a conspiracy would want to (anonymously or otherwise) blow the whistle?

"The ongoing man-made global warming hoax is but only one perfect example of this corrupted government driven agenda."

This is what's known in the logical fallacy dictionary as a "red herring."

"Even in todays highly advanced world of technology we have we have yet to find another preventative cure since polio... Of course the giant pharma's (who heavily fund the Government run FDA's of this world) will continue to deny us the freedom of good health)
Many renowned researchers and doctors from all across the world have come to this very conclusion"

In the twentieth century we developed vaccinations for diptheria, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, yellow fever, typhoid, hepatitis, HPV, chickenpox and smallpox and others I'm sure. Hardly the byproduct of an industry dedicated to keeping us sick and denying us the "freedom of good health."

The reason we haven't discovered much in the way of vaccinations lately is that we've largely eradicated the easy targets.

Cancer is not an easy target because it isn't a disease. It's a class of many, many diseases. It isn't an external infection, it's a byproduct of cell reproduction. For a good explanation of why we haven't cured cancer yet, see: http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/?p=10761

"Cancer is therefore a chronic, metabolic disease. In the entire history of medical science, there has not been a single chronic, metabolic disease that was ever cured or prevented by drugs or surgery. In every case -- whether it be scurvy, pellagra, rickets, or any of the others, the cure was found only in factors relating to adequate nutrition, usually a very specific vitamin deficiency."

    So you're saying:

    - Cancer is a metabolic disease
    - Metabolic diseases can't be cured by drugs
    - PRR are developing a drug that hopes to cure cancer

Comparing conditions caused by vitamin/nutritional deficiencies to cancer is.... vastly underestimating the problem.

"A simple non-expensive, non-patented vitamin to cure the world of diseases would simply destroy every single one of them, leave millions of people jobless and create a world recession."

Including PRR. Why are you investing in PRR again?

"Another point to add which has also been well documented is that Laetrile therapy post chemotherapy treatment will deem it ineffective because of the damage already imposed on the patience. This Government funded example even acknowledges that 2 thirds of their patients had already been through chemo...?"

So the remaining third should have been cured of cancer?

If any efficacy had been shown, further trials would have been warranted and conducted. It is not ethical to conduct further human trials on a product that excludes known effective treatments when that product has failed lab/animal/other trials.

If the proponents of Laetrile (that operate out of Mexico to circumvent the FDA) really wanted to prove that Laetrile was effective they could, at the very least produce a study that tracks the survival rate of their patients, many of whom do opt out of conventional treatment.

Surely if it's the miracle cure that they claim, increased survival rates should be obvious.

"It was less than only one year ago that the world was left stunned, not by the highly successful results of Dendreons Provenge treatment, but more so by the fact that the FDA finally succumbed under much public pressure to overturn their original corruptly driven decision to fail it."

    http://seekingalpha.com/article/76081-dendreon-the-provenge-approval-scandal-one-year-later

It does appear that there were some individuals involved in the approval process with conflicts of interest.

Personal and corporate interests play a major part in this industry, just like any other. The pharmaceutical industry is no poster-child for ethics. This I will accept.

This does not mean that governments - all around the world - are involved in a deliberate, directed conspiracy to prevent the world from treating cancer effectively.
