also, a Student of science also told me once that Onion will retard your composting and not to add it. Apparently, it hurts a certain bacteria that prevents the compost from getting up about a degree in heat to where it is supposed to be. That one microbe is important and without it the process not only takes longer, but the end result is not in fact full decomposition.

PS: Great time for putting in your spuds! Make a pile of hay approx 1mtr high and inside its base put your chats about 20cms up from the bottom (or whatever potatoe you wish to grow). Put in about 10 - 15 if you can in an area about 3m x 3m. Leave it and come back in spring you should have over a hundred potatoes! ENJOY!
