re: re:pleas provide the asx announcement I am trying to find the surgery times as I find this discussion interesting. Seems to me Heartware does have a good product but everything is a bit speculative.
Syringe says Ventracor takes 5-8 hours to implant. I found information on the Intenret stating 3 hours.
"Pre-clinical trial data shows negligible blood damage. VentrAssist™ can be implanted in a three hour operation by a qualified cardiothoracic surgeon. VentrAssist™ is designed to eliminate the tragic worldwide shortage of donor human hearts."
Also trying to find information about Heartwares implant times but can't find any.
I found this though
"The Heartware VAD is one third of the size of Ventracor's VentrAssist, and is placed in the pericardial space directly adjacent to the heart. Larger pumps are implanted in the abdominal space, a procedure requiring more extensive surgery."
Extensive surgery = 40 minutes?
