The Government can't just "can" the prospecting licence as most seem to think. Because a prospecting licence was actually issued, Axiom now has legally enforceable rights regarding it.
The licence can only be suspended or cancelled if Axiom engage in specified conduct including illegal conduct or contraventions of the relevant legislation. Furthermore, Axiom then has an opportunity to show cause before an executive decision is made to do so.
Even if there is some remote chance of that occurring, Axiom can appeal the suspension or cancellation to the High Court. Its an administrative law matter and I highly doubt it will take "years" to resolve...months maybe.
Whilst I appreciate there is corruption within the government and executive areas, I trust it would not be as rife (or at all) within the judicial system where the licence issue will be determined.
Can we stop questioning the whole licence issue??? Its a non-issue for now...
