jantimot - you are falling into the misunderstanding that most HC contributors have. The bulk test work is not to prove that the native copper is there and how much is there, it is to test the method for extraction and recovery. two different things, whether the sample used is representative or not of the whole ore body is another question.

the copper and cobalt are in different minerals, hence the different recoveries. you want to get the pyrite out of the copper concentrate because it is a diluent ie pulls the grade down. the cobalt is associated with the pyrite, so that is good, you then recover the pyrite and you recover the cobalt. the problem is the cobalt, although being relatively good grade is variable and low in content.
